Outcomes for Aging-Out Youth
Transitions for Youth is working closely with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), Office of Adolescent Practice and Permanency (OAPP) to develop a longitudinal survey project to examine outcomes for youth who age out of the child welfare system in New Jersey.
Individuals will be surveyed at regular intervals over a long time period to identify trends. The project will examine outcomes as mandated by the Foster Care Independence Act of 1999 and proposals made by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) for a National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD), including:
• Employment
• Involvement with the legal system
• Homelessness
• Interpersonal relationships
• Educational achievement
• Child bearing
