The Medicaid Extension for Young Adults

The Medicaid Extension for Young Adults (MEYA) provides continued Medicaid coverage for youth who were living in a DYFS-paid placement on their 18th birthday and meet Medicaid eligibility requirements, except for income.

The no-cost coverage is available regardless of income until the young adult's 21st birthday.

Workers and young people can find out more information about this program by calling:

The Medicaid Extension ‘Warm Line'
1-888-235-4766

A youth who is not eligible for MEYA may still be Medicaid-eligible under other programs.  For more information, contact the young person's local welfare office.

Contact information for all county welfare offices is available at: http://www.nj.gov/humanservices/dfd/programs/foodstamps/cwa/
